Former RATT Singer Says He Tried To Reunite Band For One Final Tour And CD

Ex-RATT singer Stephen Pearcy recently spoke to Glam-Metal.com about his relationship with his former bandmates and his new solo album, "Fueler", among other topics. A couple of exceprts from the interview follow:

Glam-Metal.com: In my opinion you are RATT. You have that signature vocal style that nobody can replace. Do you see a RATT reunion any time soon?

Stephen Pearcy: "The state of the trademark suit with those two over there is about to come to an end. It's very simple, they fired one of the three partners-director-office -interest holder (me) in the touring band RATT and make more monies. It's called greed. I have since moved on. I started the band RATT as we all know it and in early 2000 I wasn't about to go into the red again when the tour was over. The '99 RATT release didn't have a video and or support from the label and I knew we were in trouble when they wanted to give attention to songs that were not even close to a RATT song let alone a hit. And we all had debts to the partnership to settle. So Blotzer and De Martini get another singer and forget the corporate responsibilities and just move along like the former partners, members, interest holders, directors, and or officers of twenty years plus don't exist. Why do you think there has not been a new RATT DVD/CD release the past (5) years? It's not because they/we can't give it to the hardcore RATT fans. They don't want me to benefit from what I created. I have also since made an attempt to reunite the former members for one last tour and CD. That's all I can say. Go figure, greed, destruction of the band RATT. It's in the book! Now I'm the RAT BASTARD or see me in MICKEY RATT again! Lol! It's just ratt n' roll!"

Glam-Metal.com: Let's talk about your book "Rattails"? How long did it take to write? Without giving the details away, do you talk about the history of the band?

Stephen Pearcy: "The book! Yeah, 'Rattails'. It's now ready for paper, so to speak. I have closure on a lot of related RATT issues and now it's time to deliver. 'Rattails' is not just about the RATT days and creating that monster, it's also a trip through the process of someone wanting and then receiving that hard-earned reward in the rock n' roll platinum party, thru my eyes on the way. And it's ALL reality, no bullshit here.

"I came up with the idea for 'Rattails' a few years ago. It is (1984-2004) the 20th anniversary of RATT as I know it and I'm doing all I can to re introduce my music in any manner possible. I have since re-recorded quite a lot of the RATT catalog and with many different well-known players. It's all good and again fun. I have music going to movie and TV shows also from Top Fuel like 'Drive with Me' on ESPN2 NHRA Drag Racing series for 2005.

"'Rattails' will have many stories about the band I started called RATT. Ya see, Robbin and I, right from the start, knew that we were onto something, and we wanted to get all of it. The good, bad and the ugly. And we did! It just got uglier after Robbin died, I had no partner. We lost Robbin Crosby (RIP) in the rock n' roll war, but you make the choice when you get that platinum debauchery card. It should be heard what a strange trip it really is. We called it the three Ps. (Pussy, Party, Paycheck),in no particular order. I was the only member that was single then or thought I was thru all those years. I have a lot to say in every way of that trip. Single, married, mothers, daughters, threesome, foursome, sisters, drugs, booze, we ALL did it and some members pulling the stealth groupie thing or some of us doing the drug thing. I and Robbin were the partners in grime. We didn't give a fuck what anyone said. Our own band hated us! We took advantage of it all, and got it. You learn a lot in that fast big business or you better to stay in the game. And it's not all the big pay-off. That's why you have ex-members suing ex-members when they can't stay in the game. I should let the hardcore RATT fans in on the band I started, right! Lol."
